Hey NT, out of curiosity what is the software that you're using in that screenshot you recently posted? Is that ProTools?

I don't think I have ever seen ProTools before and was expecting it to look a lot... "fancier"!

Hey N.T.

Just had to come by and let you know what a small world we live in. I found an old friend of mine from grade school and his info showed him to be a fan of I Ran Against Us. Come to find out he was a cinematographer for your project. Then I had to tell him how I felt sorry for him to have to work with you...a no-talent bum and how it must suck to deal with your short-man syndrome and inflated ego...but I digress. Small world huh?

Ha! I eagerly await his instant disapproval of me! ;]

We're now waiting on score, so it'll be a bit. We want to try and find distribution. It'll be quite awhile before it's available online - and even then it'd be in the form of iTunes and/or Netflix streaming hopefully.

Oh you're going to sell it! Good for you, I'll probably buy a copy when it comes out then.

It's a feature length movie that cost around $30K. We're going to try to sell it, yes.

I didn't realize it cost that much! That's a lot indeed. I'm really pretty ignorant of how a movie comes together, although I do know a guy who makes independent films around here...but so far I like your stuff better.

I was just wandering around the forums just now and saw...

"Most users ever online was 334 on Mon Jun 29, 2009 9:49 am"

How did you manage to get that many people to the site that early in the morning? I know you had the premiere that night, but did you get some radio buzz going or something?

I know there are quite a few people following my production journal. Maybe they thought I'd say something "special" on that day? ;]

That's awesome though.

I saw my first mention of IRAU outside of this site the other day. One of my friends on facebook was a fan of an actress I had never heard of...so I went to that actress's FB page (Lara Grice I think) and saw that she was in IRAU.

NT - have you given any thought to submitting I Ran Against Us to Sundance? That's a great forum for you to get exposure in!!

I just mentioned Sundance on the project journal, actually. Yes, we are sending, but it's more a formality than anything. Sundance usually only snags bigger pictures.

You must be glad this is about over. Looking forward to seeing it, and good luck with the medical stuff you mentioned in the project journal.

NT - don't count yourself out of Sundance. There are plenty of independent films that get picked up. Keep it up - I'm sure you'll get noticed.

We did get accepted to the New Orleans Film Fest.

I'm just not big into festivals is all. Necessary evil, I suppose.

Well, I am pretty interested in seeing the whole movie now.

I confess the premise has always kinda bothered me as absurd, which I suspect might be intentional. The acting looks good so far, and I seem to like everything SP does, so I would definitely give this film a try too.

The premise is bizarre. No doubt. It's definitely a satire on politics and romantic comedies.

just saw the trailer. really good work there! it's also an interesting piece of story. how will the movie be published? i mean i'm sitting in germany here and would love to see it when it's done.

also... how did you guys film it? right now i'm hearing a lot of talk about the canon 5d II, and its 1080p video recording power, as an amateur alternative that really seems to work in really good quality.

keep up the nice work! :D

Thanks. Publishing is a new animal to tame for us, so we'll be learning about this process as we go. The movie is basically about 98% completed so we're just at a point where we have a product. The economy isn't going to make it any easier to get this movie at least out on DVD shelves and rent-able. Time will tell.

We shot using the Panasonic HVX200a with an added 35mm adapter Brevis unit for DOF. It's shot at 24fps and wiping out the color helps remove some of the video look as well.

I absolutely love your artwork. Great stuff. I can't remember if I've stroked your artistic ego yet. We need to work together someday, SON!

OH MY GOD TIGAER! I'm like your biggest fanboy on Deviantart!!! Well, I pretty much favourite anything you put up at least.

And NT, nice to see you have something so near completion. The last person I helped in making a movie is going insane trying to get the thing finalized. I'll post something about his progress in the main forum.

Oh, and you should check out the Canon 7D for your next project. I have a 5D Mark II myself, and the video was a nice bonus but the restrictions on frame-rate do complicate post-production a bit. I think the 7D will be the next indie film-maker's camera. It can do both PAL and NTSC signals regardless of the market it's sold in. It can do 24/25/30p at full HD and 50/60 at 720p with a datarate of 42 MB/s.

It doesn't have a Full-Frame sensor like the 5D but it still has an APS-C size sensor that's bigger than any sensor on any professional camcorder out there, and I'm pretty sure that the upcoming 1Ds Mark IV will be the pinnacle of the current DSLR/ video revolution.
