De-Nomination re-release

I'm about to re-release my religious documentary De-Nomination:

The re-release is simply a re-edit of the original. This old version may be a rarity of sorts because it contains a Mormon speaker. The Christian community really wouldn't embrace the docu because of this. It was an interesting and disappointing situation. Well, regardless I've only got about 5 or so of the old copies left. I'm going to release the new edited version pretty soon, but I thought I'd give you guys a heads up in case anyone was interested. Thanks.

Oh, and the new version doesn't have the promo trailer and commentary on it. I'd even autograph these original copies if that made a difference to anyone. Cheers.

I've kind of wanted one only because my religion's in it, but I'm so very broke right now.

The docu took over half a year to put together and there was even a local article done about it. Still, it didn't really sell but a few and all we heard were hushed remarks about the Mormons not really being Christian. Over a year later I'm not as attached to it. I tried orignally to replace the Mormon with a black minister, but could find one in a different denomination than I had already included. I waited for another 6 months or so before giving up on that.

lol, my friends at work call me "Jesus" because im christian. Christianism (if thats a word, lol!) is gettin to be rare in the UK nowadays sadly.

On the surface Mormons have similar beliefs but dig deeper and you find some pretty far out doctrine. Christians believe that Christ is the Son of God and our Savior from sin and eternal death. Mormons belive Jesus was just the first person to obtain perfection and that they too can reach His level...even becoming gods of their own planets. Its pretty strange stuff! I have studied it thoroghly and can see why the Christian faiths might have felt uncomfortable about it. That being said, I can see the value in a documentary that allows the other faiths to explain the difference.

This version has only been "popular" in very open-minded and curious circles. I'm just trying to unload these last few before I ramp up and makes some new versions.

I feel for you Jaise. In our internet circle of friends many of them are from the UK and other western europen countries.. and you are right, christianity has become anathema to them.

They listen to me because they like me, but I am pretty sure they snicker behind my back and think I am sooo backward lol. I don't care really though, and I don't preach at them. But it is sad the way the shrowd of the dark side has fallen over your continent.

NT, I would be very interested to see your work on the subject.

Now as far as Mormons being Christians, I can see hardbed's point about "The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints" falling into the general catagory of "Christians". The question is whether mainstream christianity embraces them, and the answer to that is NO for the reasons stated.

Furthermore, their book that is the foundation of their beliefs tells the story of a Jesus's work that took place in a different time, on a different continent, and with different results. So, while they call him Jesus, most christians believe that the one they speak of was NOT him, and therefore it does not pertain to the "Christ". But I suppose its really semantics because the name Christain means so many things to different people.

PS: I would have LOVED to have been interviewed for the piece, I am a fallen from favor former Assembly of God minister. But you would have had to do alot of editing because as you can see I tend to ramble :p Otherwise I would have bored the "Holy Crap" out of everyone. [pun intended]

first of all, it's true that mormans arn't accepted as christians, I'm just stating, the fact that they are. The definition of christian is:
one who believes in christ. and that they do.
but if it so happens to be that someone elses definition is different, then so be it.

christ is there foundation, the book is the key stone.

as for everything else... you can make any bible story sound far fetched. Which might be why NT doesn't claim any denomination.

Again, I see your point, and the name "christian" is totally up to interpretation.. so I will agree that mormons are christians, but they do hold very different views of who christ was, and what he taught.

I am not sure if mormons would consider themselves as "christians" I could be wrong. Anyway, I think it is more semantics than anything else.

Got my "Vintage" copy of De-Nom in the mail yesterday afternoon. I thought I'd pop on here and let everyone know that Mr NTB is the fastest son of a bitch in existence. Im looking foreward to the viewing. If it sucks, I'll be back with slanderous words and outrageous claims about being ripped off and such. If its good, I will, um, uh, not do that.

Oh, on another note, the SP DVD has made it so much easier to get others to watch your stuff. I had people here partying and laughing their asses off. So, if you want to be the life of the party, donate to sp.com and get your own DVD... you know its way cooler than that mix tape you made last week.

Cool. I appreciate honest reviews. The commentary on that version will clearly state that De-nomination wasn't made to babysit your children. You really have to be interested in the subject. It's very straightforward. I truly hope you get something out of it - even if it's just a bit of demystification.

I enjoyed the DVD... the second time around. About halfway through the first viewing a buddy of mine showed up with illegal substances and my attention span went to shit. But on second viewing it was well done and educational.

Probably not. De-Nomination was one of those projects that really hasn't "caught on". Ahead of its time, perhaps? I learned from the experience, so it was worth it regardless.
