Your Shit Is Weak - The Musical

Postby ntbullock » March 28th, 2008, 5:44 pm

Sometimes you get a little carried away and make a musical. Doesn't everybody?

Haha, Wow! That's really quite clever.
Enjoyed the watch! Nice work N.T.!
Very well made! Looks great.
I'd say your shit is defiantly strong N.T. ;)
Is there another word for 'Synonym'?

Completely demented, pretty much off kilter but with a surprisingly impressive melody, and a disturbingly Disney-esque feel to it somehow. Its like if Gilbert and Sullivan had to write a quickie to pay the crack dealer so they could get a fix.
"American Idol and Girls Gone Wild are both acts of sheer desperation and public humiliation. The only difference between them are nudity and alcohol."

"What about Paula Abdul?"

"Good point. Nudity is the only difference."

Ha ha! So definitely spot on. I enjoy watching musicals, but I know that they can be decidedly funny when you try to attach them to "real life." It's even funnier when you're basing it on a concept like "my sh*t is weak."

I don't know why, but the part where NT is holding the bird just cracks me the hell up. That and EK guzzling Jack Daniels nonchalantly.

Oh...and s*** from heaven...priceless.

Just a technical question - how did you manage to get the bird and butterfly in...was that your creation or was that chroma-keyed into the video?

Dude! I just had a really really really good laugh. Thank you so much. The whole time I was watching, I was like "What the heck??" and I just sat there staring. But when it ended, I just started laughing. A beautiful laugh that lasted at least 19 seconds.

My only complaint is that you didn't ask me to animate some adorable little woodland creatures for you. I don't have time for a whole project, but I'd have loved to get some more birdies and flying squirrels and flying deers and such in there.

Thanks again!

That would've been better than using web gifs for sure. We got this done super quick before I start to move in a couple weeks. These songs have been stuck in our heads for close to two weeks or so.

Your musical is truly melodically brilliant! I loved it.
NT you are a wonderful singer and Eric did a sweet job too. :)
You should be singing in Houston with Theatre Under The Stars, you are so good.

Another amazing project to be sure. My only complaint is that it ended too soon.

I can see the sequel now...

...actually, I can't. I had hoped for a witty, pun-laden title, but I can't think of any suggestions...

I have a tagline, though: "Shit just got real."

I need sleep, forgive me.

NT,

Would you mind giving an explanation on how you went about arranging and creating the music in "Your Shit Is Weak."

I would find this very interesting as I myself have a concept that I believe would best be conveyed by singing-my-anus-off.

Thanks

I cannot take credit for the music other than a little bit of arranging. There are pre-fab songs in GB that have all the individual layers separated for you to play with. Some of them come with the jam packs. I just went through each one and tried to match the mood of the piece. Then Eric and I wrote our lyrics to that.

The music took about fifteen hours to arrange, record, and mix. The shoot took about seventeen hours over two days. The edit was probably done over about two or three days. Everything takes time...

I know you have been very busy with work and moving and the new girls where you will be moving.... but

do you think if you have the time you could work on another redubb for ~ Flash Gordon. :)

We just watched the dvd again and it is so camp and so funny already. If you added your owness to it I know it would be good.

Dune redubb is still one of our favorites; I know you can do some more wondrous other titles too.

I think redubs work better when the movies take themselves seriously - not camp. But, the sci-fi/fantasy genre is definitely more ripe for sure. Who knows... maybe another one soon... ???

Don't want to tease the anxious re-dub fans too much, but a certain movie has been mentioned. Its title has been batted about. We're not making any promises, of course. And really, I only mention it to watch the guesses start flying. But of course... this is a thread for "Your Shit Is Weak: The Musical." So let's keep on topic and get back to praising the strength of its shit.

I have a question, a petty little question.

Why did you give the father a glass to drink the booze out of, instead of one of those smaller...I don't know what they're called...whiskey glasses?
When I noticed that I wondered if you just didn't have one on hand, or if there was a specific reason you used a tall glass.
