Hey nt, what's your verdict regarding Guitar Hero II for the 360?
I've been debating on buying it since it came out (mostly because the girl of dreams plays it, and when she comes back from Iraq I want to be able to kick her ass at it, haha) but I never really gave the game a try.
As a side note, I do actively play real guitar. I have a picture of me and my guitar on MySpace.

I just got done playing for awhile. We've been slightly consumed by it as of late. I finally beat Free Bird with a five star rating on medium tonight. I can't hang on the hard level very well. It's a lot of fun - especially laughing at one another. Eric Kohn kind of turned us on to it after he too was shocked it was enjoyable. It's definitely a hindrance to be a guitar player at first, but later the more advanced techniques benefit from being an actual guitar player. I'd recommend the game. I never thought I'd say it. ;]

Yeah, I noticed you were playing it when I went onto Xbox live earlier to download the new character packs for Ultimate Alliance, which is why I asked to see what you thought.
Damn, guess I'm going to have to finally give in and join the Guitar Hero trend, haha.
Then again, I'm Samba de Amigo 4 life!

So I guess that means no new multiplayer Gears of War maps for you then? At least until your get your 360 back?

Yeah, me either but I figure four new multiplayer maps will spark my interest again. Still, 800 points to download is a little steep.

If it were $5 I might. Plus, I was really having problems with my XBOX when trying to play with the new patch. I don't think the patch caused it or anything but it added to my frustration.

You know, it's strange how in the past couple of weeks, a lot of people's Xbox 360's have been having problems. All at once. (Or, well so I've been reading about on the Team Xbox forums). I don't know, just seems weird to me that a lot people across the U.S. are having problems with their 360's at the same time.

Could someone please explain to me why Microsoft felt the need to add Windows Messenger to the Xbox360 Dashboard?
I'm having trouble understanding that one...

You still haven't gotten yours back? That sucks.
I don't have a windows messenger account, so I can't see exactly how the feature works. It makes very little sense to me, given you can go into private chat rooms with your friends, and use your headset.
Plus, unless it has voice recognition in it, how are you going to talk to people? I don't have a keyboard for the 360. Unless you can hook up any USB ready keyboard. Then, that might make sense.

I don't think you actually do. There's an option in the friend list settings that enables to either sign up for Windows Messenger or use a current windows messenger account.
I honestly, still don't understand why they put that feature in...

I just checked. When you initially sign on, if you go to the "Chat and IM" option, there is a tabbed window for windows messenger where you can sign up for it.

I don't really use the messaging program on XBL anywhere. I barely ever use the voice message, too. I usually play with people I really talk to, which isn't many.
I may not wait until the GoW maps are free. ;]

I haven't download the new GoW maps yet, because finding the Microsoft point cards are extremely hard for some odd reason...
I went on a quest for them this weekend, and EB Games, Best Buy, WalMart and Target were all sold out of the 1600 point ones. And I really don't want the 4,000 point one, haha.
I should try to find one today, but meh...I'm happy playing Lost Planet right now.

I did to, but after that huge security flaw within their system where people actually hacked in and stole millions of people's personal information through Xbox Live, I decided to just buy the cards from now on.

Just two days ago I bought my kids an Xbox 360. They wanted one but didn't know what game to get first. So I suggested Gears of War from reading reviews and the fact that NT was willing to waste time playing it. Its gotta be good. AND IT IS!
I've been playing it almost as much as they are. I just have trouble with the controllers, being a trackball and keyboard PC FPS gamer for years. I must say the wireless controllers that came with it are not bad and I'm slowly adapting to the "console" style controller.
I was reluctant to get it online for any updates, but my boys wanted to play their xbox games on the 360 as well. I got all the updates and the xbox emulator, no problems like what I read at various sites.
The Xbox 360 is a very cool machine. Any game recommendations?
Other than sports games that is...

Thanks for the recommendations. My oldest was looking at Lost Planet. Is that any good?
