Video I Made
Hi there,
I was just experiementing with the footage I shot from Mustange Range (a gun show/extravaganza). And was fooling around in Final Cut Pro. I created a little movie with some music to go a long with it. I'm in some of it, I'm the guy shooting the .40 pistol. Anyway, tell me what you guys think.

..im not so sold on the subject matter
it was an intresting experiment, but prehaps in reality it had no scripting or story, just random guns and music, but really thats all you really tried to do, so in theory ot was a success.

Hmm, editting-wise it's pretty simple, and wouldn't be much without the music. You might try some things with using repetition as a dramatic effect, or adjusting the saturation and such. There's really not much to it as is, especially considering the footage has much more potential. Oh and, pleaseplease never use preset transitions like where it divides the video in fours, or whatever, because that tends to make it look really amateurish, which you want to avoid.
Anyway, that's my constructive criticism for now,

I didn't like the effect fades (the 4 way break and the circle stretch), they seem pretty cheesy to me.
there was some nice shots in there though, great explosion in the end.
and i noticed a shot with fire that blinked out, in sync with the music drums; that was cool :)

The major thing I saw wrong is that it appeared that every transition went to a black screen, when transitions are supposed to be used to go from one piece of video to another. I just think it made the video a little rough around the edges.

If it is Chris Cornell he must do a lot of Band hopping because last I knew he was lead singer for Audioslave.

video transitions like that usually give stuff a very un professional feel to it. almost corny and way too homemade. thats the problem with them. Anybody can take random footage, slap music and do some fades with it. thats why the fades are generally not used.
Having said that, you grabbing the camera, doing the shots, putting it on your computer and editing, makes you that much better then all the critics who judge ur piece but have yet to make anything of their own.

Actually, the video reminded me of a "Monster Truck Rally" commercial. It was the transitions that made it feel that way. You should re-edit it and put in an announcer's reverbed voice, add some text, and turn it into a promo commercial.

What would be the more proper and pro way to go from one scene to another. I used transitions as well, but most of my videos were just random shots anyway. I admit a lot of transitions are very cheesey. Some are not so bad though depending on what you are trying to do.

Depends I guess. If you're trying to go for a fast paced feel to it sometimes a jumpcut can be your best friend. If you're trying to smoothly transition from one scene to another a cross dissolve can look pretty good.
And don't forget how sometimes you can use a cross dissolve and stop it half way so you have two different footages on on top of the other. With the right footage this can look great.

The video was good and the song fitted it well; argessive and weighty. The only thing i would say is that i agree with others about the transitions. Apart from that it was good though man, well done *thumbs up*

Nice little one, but dude these transitions are horrible (especially the x one), don't ever use them again.
To be exactly, they're all 'Smashing Pumpkins'. And Bin Ladens. You get it.
And the Alter Bridge singer really does a Cornell on this.
